Traffic areas can show signs of wear and tear faster than other areas inside your home, so you should routinely get your carpets cleaned throughout the year.
Our customer here in Phoenix needed his area rug cleaned. Furniture was on half the rug for over 2 years, and the other half was a heavy traffic area.
